02Agreement
These terms apply to Keel, the macOS app, and to this website. By downloading, installing or using Keel, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
Keel is an independent project by Mohd Mahmodi. It is free and has no account, subscription or purchase.
03License
Keel's source code is published under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and distribute it under that license. Where these terms and the MIT License differ about the source code, the MIT License applies.
The Keel name and icon identify this project. Builds you make yourself should not be presented as official releases.
04Your responsibility
Keel shows what each change does, what you give up and the exact commands it runs. You decide which changes to apply, and you are responsible for those decisions.
- Review before you confirm. Read the confirmation sheet, including any password prompt, restarts or settings the change affects.
- Back up first. Keep a current Time Machine or other backup before applying tweaks or deleting files with Cleanup.
- Run a baseline benchmark. Measure your Mac before changing anything, so you can see the effect of each change.
- Use it on Macs you manage. Use Keel only on Macs you own or are allowed to configure. Work or school Macs may have policies that prohibit changes.
05Your Mac and your data
Keel records each original before changing it and restores it when you switch a tweak off. Restoring depends on those records and on your Mac being in the state Keel left it. Keel may not be able to restore a setting exactly if the records in ~/Library/Application Support/Keel/ are deleted, if macOS or another app changes the same setting, or after a macOS update.
Cleanup deletes only the items you select. Deleted caches are normally rebuilt by the apps that own them, but deletion cannot be undone by Keel, and emptying the Trash is permanent.
You are responsible for your Mac, your files and your backups.
Keel is not liable for data loss, changed settings, system instability or other effects on your Mac that result from changes you choose to make.
06Benchmarks and results
Figures on this website, including benchmark comparisons, timings and storage found by Cleanup, were measured on specific Macs or compare macOS defaults with Keel's settings. They show what is possible, not what you will get. Results depend on your hardware, macOS version, network, workload and what's on your disk.
07Apple and other software
Keel changes settings that belong to macOS and to other apps. Apple and other developers can change how those settings behave, and an update may cause a tweak to stop working or behave differently. Keel is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple or any developer whose software it configures. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc.
08No warranty
Keel and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and accuracy. There is no guarantee that Keel will be error-free, that it will work with every Mac or macOS version, or that any change will produce a particular result.
09Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, Keel or this website. This includes loss of data, loss of use, system damage, lost time and lost profits, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded. In those places, these terms apply to the extent the law allows, and nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be waived.
10Changes and contact
These terms may be updated. The current version is always on this page with its effective date, and earlier versions are in the repository history. Using Keel after a change means you accept the updated terms.
How Keel handles data is described in the Privacy page. Questions go to GitHub Issues.
